ArchiMed is a Private Equity firm which was founded in 2014 and focuses on healthcare investing globally. After raising a new fund of €800M and appointing a new partner, they were looking to grow the team with a new hire.

 

THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM

Archimed is a healthcare-focused investment company founded in the 2010s. It is headquartered in Lyon and has additional offices in New York and Singapore, with a total headcount of around 200 employees. The company’s investment team is spread across Lyon and New York and comprises over 100 professionals.

The firm primarily focuses on global healthcare investments across various industries, including Biopharma, MedTech, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, Life Sciences, Healthcare IT, Consumer Health, and Healthcare. Their portfolio strategy involves working closely with their invested companies to drive business growth through international expansion, developing additional products, making acquisitions, and achieving organic growth. They invest in both small and mid-cap companies.

THE SEARCH REQUIREMENTS

The role would be focused on investing in the DACH market, so a German or Swiss-German native is essential.

Filling this role also came with three major challenges:

  1. The firm is located in Lyon, which is not an area that is typically rife with Private Equity firms and talent.
  2. The firm required a candidate with international investment experience who would relocate to Lyon.
  3. The firm had a strict non-compete in place with a number of international funds, which significantly reduced the talent pool available to them.

Upon starting this search, Raw Selection’s managing partner worked with the hiring manager and other key team members to build out a full picture of the company, the employees, the culture, and exactly the type of profile needed to succeed in this position.

After conducting over 120 screening calls and 15+ interviews, Raw Selection identified a great profile who was subsequently hired for the role.

Raw Selection followed an extensive 14-step search process, identifying 372 potential profiles, which was then cut down to a shortlist of 14, all of whom had been fully interviewed and measured for culture fit.

They did this by focusing on non-core PE countries and by finding profiles who were more flexible to relocation, such as people without children in school.

They also created a search pack with extensive information on relocating and living in Lyon to sell the location as well as the role.
